Do you use a WD My Cloud system?
If you use a Western Digital (WD) My Cloud product to keep your data safe, you may actually be putting it at risk due to many security holes recently found in their systems. It’s annoying – the very system you use to keep your documents, photos and videos safe – has un-patched vulnerabilities which could allow hackers to steal your data!
The issues were originally reported to WD on the 18th January 2017 in the hope that their development team would fix them quickly and roll out a software update to everyone that uses it. Unfortunately WD’s reputation for responses to bugs discovered isn’t very good.
What should you do?
If you are using a WD My Cloud system, the general consensus seems to be that you should unplug/power off your device until WD has fixed these vulnerabilities. Check the list below to see if your system is affected.
